1996, ‘Entre dos puertos’ (Between two harbors), SONY BMG. Album produced and directed by Paco Ortega and Alejandro Sanz, where songs by both artists can be found. Maria’s debut album, at age of only 17, is of a cool nature and breathed new life into the Spanish Flamenco style. Mostly festive and cheerful singings, with the flamenco rhythm addition by Niña Pastori. The album was certified platinum, and the song ‘Tu me camelas’ (‘You love me’ in gypsy language), remained at the top of music charts for months. This album mixes pop with more traditional forms of flamenco styles such as “rumba”, “fandango”, “bulería”, and “tanguillos”.
